Key Steps to Start Your Student Visa Journey
01
Choose Your Course and University
UK institutions offer a wide range of undergraduate, postgraduate, and professional degrees. Select a course that aligns with your goals, and apply either directly through the university’s website or via UCAS (for undergraduate applicants).
02
Receive Your CAS Letter
Once accepted, the university will issue a CAS (Confirmation of Acceptance for Studies). This document contains your unique CAS number, course details, and sponsor information — and is required to start your visa application.
03
Gather and Prepare Your Documents
To apply for your visa, you’ll typically need:
CAS from a licensed university
Valid passport
Proof of funds (tuition + living costs for 9 months)
IELTS or equivalent proof of English
TB test results (for some countries)
Immigration Health Surcharge (IHS) payment
04
Apply Online for the Student Visa
You’ll complete your visa application via the official UKVI (UK Visas and Immigration) website. You’ll also pay the IHS and visa fee as part of the process.
05
Attend Your Biometrics Appointment
Schedule a biometrics appointment at a visa application center. After submission, most students receive a decision within 3–4 weeks, though this can vary by country.
